Drowned out?

Led by you, the programme (like the news) has been dominated by Lebanon for the past three weeks. But and as the UK newspaper The Independent today:

At any other time, the execution-style killing of 15 aid workers in Sri Lanka would surely have been front-page news.

Last week a sharply divided US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit let stand an earlier decision holding that a public school may prevent a student from wearing an anti-gay T-shirt on campus. The court's answer presents serious problems, but identifying a better solution is tricky.



Last week, Republican primary voters in Kansas ousted the conservative majority on the state Board of Education, which had adopted science standards embracing intelligent design and casting doubt on Darwinian evolution. The vote, which should lead to changes to those embarrassing standards, is an encouraging sign that even in conservative jurisdictions, most people want kids to be taught biology, not religion.
