Pre-meeting notes
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening or good night bloggers. What ever time of day it is where you are I hope you are well. Before I give you the low down on what stories are knocking around i'd like to give you a little glimpse in the murky world of WHYS meetings. As Anu wrote last week some of our meetings can be quite, let's say, heated. But most of the time they're very civilised and brimming with ideas. Sometimes though there are ideas that come up again and again which always seems to end up on the cutting room floor. One such idea is....
GUNS. Should gun laws be tightened? A look at the global sale of guns. How do guns affect your life? Are guns too easily available? Etc. The reason the gun idea tends to get thrown out is because people say it's too big a topic, there are too many issues, its to nebulous.
But, after the horrific shooting at an Amish school in Pennsylvania yesterday which has, so far, left four girls dead and eight critically ill, is it time for that debate? Or, is it time for a debate which forces Americans to look hard at them self and ask, "what's going on in our country?" Are 3 school shootings in a week normal for a country not so different than many other countries without such ? While you think about that here's what else's about.
It's rumoured that could be dropped from his record label after being found slumped behind the wheel of his car, again. The star claims that he hasn't got a drug problem. Nevertheless this story's been getting press all over the world, in , and of course the . Is this the end for George Michael? If you're a fan we'd like to hear your thoughts.
A father of two has been outside his home in the UK after asking a group of young kids to be quiet. This is just one in a catalogue of such murders that have occurred in the in recent months. What's the situation like where you live? Are your streets ruled by gangs of kids? Would you ever confront a big group of young people? Are you young? Do feel that you are victimised because of the acts of a stupid few?
Europe's first dedicated centre for victims of is due to open in Sheffield in the UK. Does the opening of this centre signify the seriousness of the problem? Have you been affected by people trafficking?
Here's a list of the most looked at stories on google...
