Frankline in Belgium
I live in Gent, Belgium. I like listening to news, watching football and reading about new inventions and discoveries in scientific fields in general and my environmental field, in particular.
Unfortunately I now live in an artificially built up environment in the so-called "western world" here in Belgium. I must say my sweet home, Eya-nchang Village, Mamfe, Cameroon is a naturally driven environment in the heart of the rain forest in Africa.
My village is located between two rivers but interestingly, natural, cold, and healthy spring water serve as its water source. Part of the cleared forest land provides fertile farm land, eliminating the use of manure or chemical fertilizer. The houses are interspersed by evergreen leafy trees giving a cooling natural sensation during the hot dry season sun and a perfect shade during the heavy rainy season rains. This gives a natural taste and splendour of a community living in perfect harmony with nature.
I do a temporal job with a waste management firm and also rounding up with my masters in Environmental Sanitation, University of Gent, Belgium. As a keen listener of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Programmes, I got to listen to WHYS, and have once went on the air about the Niger Delta crisis and also had my contribution read on land re-distribution in Zimbabwe.
I like the fact that WHYS gives opportunity to people from diverse backgrounds to express their views on sensitive issues to them which they select themselves - it's democracy.
I wish more time to be given to WHYS and more remote listeners should be given a chance, such that many more people could use this unique opportunity to shout out their views to the international community.
I like stories like politics (deployment of more American troops to Iraq or land redistribution in Zimbabwe or Niger Delta crisis), societal issues (like racism or the role of western elites in Africa's corruption), environmental issues (global warming/climate change, extinction of species) and sports (signing of a new contract with LA Galaxy by Becks).
