World Have Your Say in New York: Day 2
My second day in NYC today and it had a very different feel to yesterday. The city is coming back to life after the holiday weekend and with it, the debate over the proposed Islamic cultural center and mosque has also reignited.
Mark, Alex and I plotted out a route around Ground Zero that Ros may take tomorrow during the show. Park51, the site of the proposed mosque was deserted yesterday, today there an artist, his photo is above, posters with historical quotes and even a car with a makeshift rocket rallying either for or against the mosque. After a lot of dead-ends (tall buildings were taking their toll on our satellite signal) - we have two great locations for tomorrow O'Hara's Bar right beside Ground Zero, their owner Michael showed us some incredible photos of the damage to his bar after 9/11. And we'll also broadcast from the Amish Market right next door to Park51. Sean, Armagan and Jody were very generous hosts today as we tried every internet port to connect to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ and on the final try - it worked!
I'm about to go and meet Mark and Alex for an 8pm editorial meeting to finalize some details for tomorrow - stay tuned!
