On air at 17&18GMT: Have William and Kate got the guest list right?

The Syrian Ambassador to the UK will have some unexpected time on his hands as he's been uninvited because of the repression taking place in Deraa and elsewhere. Tony Blair and Gordon Brown won't be there either, though we're assured there's nothing but protocol in the decision to ask them. Not everyone is so sure.

The Crown Prince of Bahrain and the King of Swaziland were both asked along but have decided not to come as they feared they'd be a distraction. This is related to recent crackdowns on pro-democracy campaigners in both countries.

And then we have representatives of Zimbabwe, Iran and North Korea who are on the guest list and will be there.

All of which is much more about diplomatic niceties than who William and Kate might prefer, but nonetheless there are still many questions being asked.

Should we expect more discerning decisions to be taken, or are a Prince and a future Princess the wrong couple to demand this from?
