Bob's Boat Photo
Here's a photograph taken by blog commentator Bob Hall in New York, of the 8 racers in the round-the-world yacht race, which made a stop in the marina at the World Financial Center NYC, near Ground Zero.
Bob also writes about going to the marina near the site of the September 11th attacks. I hope he doesn't mind if I share some of that with you.
Bob says:
"I had not been down to that marina area in a long time. Bad memories from a month after 9/11 when the underground fires were still billowing out smoke.
Along here were makeshift, walk in memorial shrines with lots of (fresh) flowers, snap shots of missing people, hand written notes and - teddy bears. Hundreds of all these things in the tight little spaces. To read the notes was to tear up.
And the smell.
I am not complaining that I made this trip.
I should get back among those historic streets I knew well in my business days.
But a lot is like it all happened yesterday."
