I guess this being Radio 1, they must pick the more commercial album. Everyone who loves Metallica knows that 'Puppets' is their real masterpiece.

At 8th Jul 2010, Spamdownftw wrote:Yes this is a masterpiece, but it seems to forget their roots as a thrash Metal band, overall I'm dissapointed listening to this album, after their mess up of "...And Justice For All" trying to be too complicated, they reduced almost evrything down to become a Hard Rock band - Just think of Master of Puppets and Ride The Lightning, brilliant albums, due to one person, Cliff Burton - it all went downhill after he died... which is a shame :/ Death Magnetic brought them home with Rob, but i doubt they'll ever bee the same - Then again this album inspired many to pick up the guitar and drum sticks and alterd the 90's dramatically introuducing a new genre of Grundge which inspired hoards of people. And to be honest my favourite album is "Kill 'em All" it's just brilliant :) That album in particular inspired me to pick up the bass ;)Anethesia FTW
To be fair this album has many good songs, my favourite being "Wherever I may Roam" - but compared to "One" or "For Whom the Bell Tolls" it isn't a patch. Im being very picky here, but i just prefer their early work, maybe it's because i prefer heavier music i.e Slayer.
Enough ranting - Metallica Rules \m/
