This is a sneaky dub plate Pendulum readied for the Miami Winter Dance Conference, but we had to chuck it on the radio. And yesterday's reaction guaranteed a spot as tonight's hottest record. Get ready for Pendulum.
Transgressive recording artist Johnny Flynn returns with a new album 'Been Listening' and the first single is called 'Kentucky Pill'. A great singer songwriter, his timing may be perfect here. For fans of Laura Marling and Mumford and Sons. And fans of Johnny Flynn.
New album. Sold out UK Tour. Wireless date in London. And a happy James Murphy nursing a hangover and talking us through life in his band right now. Already all over the blogs, we throw the new single on radio. Driving, rocky side of LCD.
Good chat with Jack White about the next Dead Weather album, 'Sea Of Cowards'. Said to be the sound of this band a year on, and much more powerful, after the heavy touring they have undertaken. This man has an unquenchable thirst for music and the journey it takes him on. Its a pleasure to watch and listen vicariously.
Leaked. Streamed. Spread. Downloaded. Aired. Not the nicest words ever uttered, but in a row they mean we have brand new Gaslight Anthem, 'American Slang', from a mere rumour to radio and eventually Hottest Record in minutes. What a weird industry this is now. Enjoy it.
London punk rockers The King Blues pull up with a brand new Hottest Record, 'Headbutt' and promises of a brand new album due later in the year. Good to have their spirit back on the air.
New Foals, 'This Orient' is tonight's Hottest Record. This makes it official.
Total Life Forever.
Currently making big moves in the U.S, dubstep wunderkind Rusko has timed the release of his debut album OMG perfectly. From the sound of tonight's hottest record, he has realised his potential outside of the scene that made his name. Evolution is a big part of music, and it's good to see these producers like Rusko working without boundaries. This is a big record. Garage revival anyone?
From out of nowhere comes a Black Keys album called 'Brothers'. No word on the grape vine, no rumour, no warning, no nuttin'. No complaints. Big fan of Black Keys. Always have been. And the new tune 'Tighten Up' adds a little sweet soul to their dynamic blues. Here's hoping the other 14 tracks match up. As if they won't.
For someone who took their sweet time making a debut album, Sub Focus is wasting no time in building on it. Remixes and collaborations a plenty, your man has gone and made arguably his biggest hit to date in the aftermath of his album and it's tonight's hottest record. 'Splash' features Coco Sumner on vocals and is equal parts smooth and rough and ready to stream.
Taken from the new album of the same name, we get 'Diamond Eyes' from Deftones. You know I rate this band a lot, but the album surpassed my very high expectations. Expect heaviness and fragility in equal amounts. Perfectly executed hard rock.
Hottest Record from this week's Maida Vale Session. Most talked about rapper right now, Giggs gives us something way upfront from his forthcoming new album, 'Let 'Em Have It'.
This tune apprently represents his laid back party vibe. Still. Heavy nonetheless and full of urgency.
Another endearing 7 inch single from Frankie & The Heartstrings. One half is tonights Hottest Record. Self recorded with additional mixing from James Ford. Great pop music. Album in the works with some festivals tbc.
What did you expect from MGMT on the new record? Hope it wasn't 'Time To Pretend' et al...this album is a very different listen. Entitled 'Congratulations', it is as free form a journey as you will hear this year and will no doubt get rave reviews across the board. First song 'Flash Delirium' is Hottest Record What do you think? Leave a comment.
Eager anticipation meets the new Pendulum single 'Watercolour' head on and what we get is a huge Hottest Record to start the week. Perfectly fusing the first two albums, its heavy and heavy in melody. New album 'Immersion' is imminant. This will be a big summer for Pendulum.
With the album well and truly rinsed, it's great to have something new from Bombay Bicycle Club. This new song 'Jewel' serves as a B side to 'Evening/ Morning' showing a thoughtful and understated side to this band. They can go anywhere from here.
Here's a slice of timeless pop from one of the most exciting collaborations at the moment. Broken Bells is a team effort. Part Shins, part Dangermouse. The results are all-emcompassing. Song number four is called 'The Ghost Inside' and it's tonight's hottest record. Don't forget to check out the Maida Vale session tomorrow.
Spectacular return for Foals. Sounding every bit the future on this new song 'Spanish Sahara'. 6 minutes plus to drift away to. And you will. New album 'Total Life Forever' to follow.
