Hottest Record - The Klaxons - Flashover

Big one this one. The return of Klaxons with a heavy, distorted, weird piece of perfect noise. It was always going to be their heaviest foot forward and reactions from our end so far are very strong. The Four Horsemen are back. Rejoice. Tomorrow, new Vampire Weekend.

Brilliant! The Klaxons haven't released anything for a while now so I'm glad they're still doing stuff!

mehhhh is it just me or is this a little bit underwhelming from a band who promised so much? sounds like an outtake from myths of the... its not a bad record but i was hoping for more, especially when the bar has been raised in 2010 by acts like everything everything. anyway, glad to see them back, i suppose. still got the suspicion that they got lucky with their first album and actually aren't that amazing songwriters. hope i'm wrong

Some good moments in this song , it's edgy and heavy , but it lacks the commercial edge , Golden Skans had .

When your last lead single , was the massive , melody heavy , heavenly ,Golden Skans , then some will say that the next lead single has to top that masterpiece , both song wise and commercially .

Not sure if this is the song to do it , as it doesn't sound like a single to me . I can see Radio 1 playlisting it , along with specialist stations , but a lot of other radio stations would pass on playlisting this.

That said the "myriad of silver discs " refrain is very catchy , as is the "Flashover " bridge , and the song catches fire in the chorus, with a lot of power, and an aggressive underbelly .

This song is certainly a grower .

    Welcome back lads .

I think Flashover is a massive disappointment and Klaxons are milking the last of the media's enthusiasm for Myths Of The Near Future (admittedly an awesome album). How on Earth could this be a Hottest Record?

A bit of late comment, but what are you on about Spirit? They released Atlantis to Interzone and Magick before 'Skans.

Thank you for keeping me right Andy . Golden Skans was their first mainstream success , and a new Klaxons single , in my opinion , would need to stand alongside , or even better , the magic and power of that song .
In my opinion " Flashover" was not that song .

"Echoes" on the other hand , fits the bill . A glorious compelling chorus , full of melody and a more suitable choice .

Echoes will be a top 40 hit !
