A strong return from Cold War Kids - details of the new album are up on their website now. Listen below...
Hello, Huw here in for Zane tonight. Tonight's hottest is from the unstoppable and brilliant Frank Turner. His touring and recording and general non-resting continues, with this from a new EP out vefore Christmas, before his next album gets underway in January. A soaring short sharp blast of melodic punk rockness with the added aceness of you, his fans, on the chorus. That's got to be good!
Proof of the much talked about collaboration between Robert Smith and Crystal Castles came in the form of tonight's Hottest Record 'Not in Love'. Despite it's existence on the latest Crystal Castles album, this music is made for Robert Smith and benefits from his involvement accordingly. A proper special record from two artists unlikely to collaborate again on this scale any time soon.
Someone had to do it, someone had to unify the UK's rap scene at this time of prosperity. So at last Tinchy Stryder has taken all that support and goodwill that exists on stage and online and put it on record. Just look at the roll-call ...Giggs, Professor Green, Devlin, Tinie Tempah, Example, Chipmunk and, of course, Tinchy. A special moment for a special time. Game Over.
Hello, Huw here in for Zane. What a pleasure to play brand new 'The GO! Team' on tonight's show. Multi colour experimental accessible genre defying pop-hop doesn't come much better. Quiet for a while (nor surprising for a band who do things on their own term), they're back with an album in early 20011, and this is a phenomenal introduction to it. Play it loud, have a bop.
For a man who's been in bands his entire creative life, Miles Kane shows no signs of worry about stepping out on his own. His debut solo single 'Inhaler' is a fast & soulful workout & starts this, his new era appropriately.
Mutual musical appreciation going on tonight as Band Of Horses pay their respects to Cee-lo Green in return for him covereing one of their songs earlier this year. More faithful to the original than Cee-lo's cover, BOH's version of Georgia expands the sound with the help of a Georgia University Marching Band and turns a delicate and soulful tribute to Georgia into a real celebration.
This latest KOL moment came at the perfect time for tonights Hottest Record dept. Its thoughtful and loping west coast groove fitting perfectly into our Mumford And Sons And Friends evening perfectly. Expect a more considered new album instead of the arena rock of their last.

Something unheard of tonight as we play not one but two Hottest Records from a brand new band. But The Vaccines aren't just any new band, they are a spark at a time when Rock n' Roll is ready to fire again. Tonight's two songs, sizing up at 4 minutes in total, are perfectly crafted pop moments played with excitement and energy and that's how they make us feel. Excited and full of energy.
This needs very little introduction or explanation, simply put this is Gorillaz at their finest. A carefree and effortless example of perfect pop with just enough of a twist that you know it still resides on Plastic Beach. Introducing this new talent, Daley, and putting a smile on our face at the same time, this is a definitive hottest record.
Hottest Record tonight from Hot Chip and New Order, well at least elements of those two fine bands coming together and producing a really loose, organic piece of classic house music. These days, so much of what comes out of studios is strangled by click tracks and quantize so it's nice to hear a four-on-the-floor groove with a lot of freedom. Classy.
