Meet Ryan: 大象传媒 West Yorkshire Blast Reporter!Your new 'Blastee' and first point of call for all things arty on the 大象传媒 Bradford and West Yorkshire Website, Ryan King explains his love for art, the Shiver Factor and what he has planned for Blast in summer 2008..! Hello people! I'm Ryan and for the next eight weeks I'll be reporting on art in West Yorkshire. My aim is to showcase new talent, highlight the fun side of art and generally uncover some real arty gems for you all. I am passionate about the arts and hope to pass this on through the articles you will read in the coming weeks.听 "I love making beats..." Let's be honest, if Bradford and West Yorkshire was a curry there would be too much flavour. The area is woven with numerous cultures providing an interesting mix that is reflected in the art. I'm happy to be based here having one of the most exciting art scenes in England to report on.听 Who am I ?I'm Bradford born and bred giving me a good insight into the area. Actively involved with art since I took my first hard-earned summer wage and spent it all on a set of turntables, I am an art addict. I am 22-years-old and for the past five years I have studied Music Technology and Journalism at Huddersfield University. I love making beats, beating cheats, arty treats and, of course, poetry. I am also one of only two members of a band that only use computers, that's right readers, no guitars - a good old fashioned binary band. I consume documentaries at a startling rate. This information overload sometimes means I mix them all up in my head resulting in some strange rekindling of Super Size Bee, or more worryingly Escape of the Killer Me. I love all music and will give anything a try at least once. I live by the quote: "Never stop asking why".
The Shiver Factor. This is the way I measure the quality of art: the bigger the shiver, the better the art. By shiver I mean the reaction you get from art, the pins-and-needles feeling that art can cause. It may be happy, sad, contemplative, a whole array of emotions come through viewing, reading or listening to art. I may go as far as developing a Shiver-ometer to measure this feeling. Note To Self: This could be very expensive! Try get the the 大象传媒 to fund the research?听 Bye for now!PS: Over the next eight weeks I will bring you a fine selection of art from West Yorkshire but with so much happening it would be easy for a good story to be missed. It was someone famous who said: "You miss a hundred percent of the shots you never take". I would like to fire with a fully automatic machine gun so please send me any ideas, suggestions or comments concerning art in Calderdale, Bradford, Kirklees or Wakefield through the form below.听 PPS: By the way my phobia is, in fact, bees and wasps so I don't care if you discover a honeycomb intricately designed to resemble the Sistine Chapel, I won't even consider it. last updated: 28/07/2008 at 10:35 Have Your SayWhat arty stuff in West Yorkshire do YOU think Ryan should know about?
