Roger is a folk singer from Brighouse, currently living in Halifax. His songs are inspired by the surrounding northern towns, their inhabitants and his family and friends.

His lyrics are full of optimism and warmth for this part of England which he never wants to leave.

He talks of initially wanting to be a painter and was inspired by many successful artists including the local artist Peter Brook whose work features in this film.

Roger says he was eventually able to find his own "language" through music and lyrics.
