He spoke to breakfast host Jeremy Sallis about why he chose March for the project.
Help playing audio/video Tommy Walsh is a man who enjoys a challenge, but this could be his toughest yet: build an eco-friendly house, with 拢60,000, in 60 days, while the population of March try to get their faces on camera. "The people of March are lovely, they're very, very friendly," says Tommy. "We did some filming on Thursday in the centre of town and I must say it did cause a bit of a stir." "There were quite a few people getting into the back of the shot." Tommy at work The Ground Force star has begun work on the compact site in Church Street and will be filming throughout Fenland tracking down novel examples of eco-friendliness. Tommy's plan to encourage us to befriend the environment doesn't involve giving up the luxuries of modern living. "To build an eco-house is a lot more expensive than you might think. So it's going to be a an eco-friendly house. We're going to take certain elements and include that in the build." This includes insulation for the house to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and water harvesting to keep the toilet flushing and the washing machine washing. So can Tommy's team beat the clock and have an eco-friendly house built in 60 days for 拢60,000? Keep checking back here for updates and photos of the project. last updated: 26/03/2008 at 12:47 You are in: Cambridgeshire > Features > Your County > Tommy gets eco-friendly |
