Cut Your CarbonYou are in: Cambridgeshire > Cut Your Carbon > Close the Door Jeannie Dawkins Close the Doorby Chris Osborne Cutting carbon needn't be hard - it can be as simple as closing a door. Jeannie Dawkins has hit the high street to persuade shops to do just that.
Jeannie Dawkins, with her friends Margaret Mair and Sian Reid, has been taking on the man, by hitting the high street stores in Cambridge. Frustrated by the amount of energy wasted by shops who refuse to close their front doors, Jeannie is on a crusade to get retailers - big and small - to cut their carbon. By keeping their doors open stores are losing energy all year round - heating the street in winter and air conditioning it in the summer. Jeannie and the team created the Close the Door campaign and already many outlets, restaurants and cafes have started to close their front doors - despite some shops claiming that doing so would reduce the amount of customer traffic. But Jeannie's confident enough in the intelligence of the Cambridgeshire public to believe that they are capable of opening a door. We join Jeannie and the team as they hit the campaign trail. last updated: 17/03/2008 at 16:22 SEE ALSOYou are in: Cambridgeshire > Cut Your Carbon > Close the Door
