Money for old rope?

Here's another great way to reduce that big ol' carbon footprint of yours and pocket a little cash into the bargain. And someone else will do all the hard work for you! Now how good does that sound?

So, your cupboards are groaning under the weight of all those unwanted items, and you really don't want to add to the local landfill?

Well, a Cambridgeshire charity is offering to take some of that potentially valuable clutter off your hands and turn it into lovely, lovely cash.

"With Red2Green, the public can generate income and reduce landfill – a real winner for everyone, including our learners"

Tor Docherty, CE, Red2Green

The Cambridge Online Auction Shop in Histon Road has been set up by Red2Green, to help people sell unwanted items on those well-known internet auction sites.

Red2Green, who work with people with a range of disabilities, see this as a great way to introduce their learners to retail and IT skills. Working with tutors from Cambridge Regional College, learners will be taught how to prepare items for sale, take photographs and upload the details. They'll also take all the hassle out of posting items, by doing that for you as well.

Red2Green will take a small percentage of the sale price to help towards their running costs.

The charity's new premises also house Red2Green's Reboot scheme, a project that has been running for a number of years. Reboot workers learn how to refurbish old personal computers for resale. And they can also build bespoke equipment from old parts.

That's a fair bit of carbon cutting! So, if you don't want it, but you think someone else might pay good money for it... you know where to go!
