IWM Duxford has walked away with Gold in the National Enjoy England Awards for Excellence - being voted top Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.

And get this... they were up against, among others, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London!

So, if you haven't been there already - what are you waiting for? Why bother dragging the kids to London this Bank Holiday when you've officially got the biggest and best right on your doorstep?

It's been part of the Imperial War Museum since the 1970s, but its six hectares (don't panic - they've got a little shuttle bus!) are steeped in history as any of the visitors to its many air shows will know. It was the first RAF station to operate the Spitfire, and is well-known for its role in the Battle of Britain and as a USAAF Fighter Base.

And, this year is its 90th birthday, too!听 What a nice, shiny gold birthday present that award must be!
