SWAT planting at Itter Park

Getting to the root of the problem

SWAT Team tackle turf

Springwatch action teams swing into action across England in June 2008, to create new havens for wildlife and breathing places for local people. 大象传媒 Cambridgeshire tackled Itter Park... And now you can really see the results!

Eleven weeks after our SWAT team set to work in Itter Park, we've got some great photos of the results of all that hard graft! The wildlife pond they created is now a thriving home to beautiful plants and a haven for wildlife. You can see how successful the project has been in the photograph below, and there are more new pictures in our gallery.

The pond that SWAT built...

SWAT at Itter Park in Peterborough

We did it! In one weekend 大象传媒 Cambridgeshire, BTCV, Friends of Itter Park and Peterborough City Council converted an underused patch of putting green in to a new home for watery wildlife.

From Friday 6th until Sunday 8th June the Springwatch Action Team were out in force digging, planting, hosing and lining a new pond.

Half way

Working hard

It is hoped by spring next year the pond and bog area will be brimming with frogs, newts and maybe even some fish.

Loads of volunteers helped out over the weekend, all doing one thing for nature and making sure that Peterborough has a great new space for wildlife.

See how they got on in our video.
