Red Nose Day 2009You are in: Cambridgeshire > Red Nose Day 2009 > The hirsuit of excellence Our brave boys after the big shave-off! The hirsuit of excellence"Do something funny for money" they said... and we could think of nothing more amusing than watching our macho 大象传媒 colleagues attempt to grow their facial hair and raise tons of money for this year's Red Nose Day - Friday 13th March 2009 The 大象传媒 is not responsible for the content of external websites Red Nose Razor DayOur brave colleagues were put under the spotlight in Peterborough's Queensgate Shopping Centre on Red Nose Day, being shaved, waxed, primped, crimped and generally humiliated in front of crowds of bemused on-lookers. You can see the results in our great Beard-Off gallery. We were lucky enough to have comedian and presenter Johnny Dee on hand to compere the event, dressed up in his inimitable style - today as Ozzy Osbourne and children from the Jack Hunt School came armed with whoopee cushions ready for a symphony with a difference. You can listen to Johnny Dee introducing the victims, the barbers, Rai Devito and Aurelio Mundo from the Barber Pole, our leg-waxer, Gina, plus children from Jack Hunt School here:

Listen to Paul screaming like a girlie as Gina from The Park Inn invites the children to remove the wax strips!

Most people shave it off in the name of charity, but we're putting ourselves to the testosterone test to find the hairiest presenter at 大象传媒 Radio Cambridgeshire! Latest news... Dave Lee Travis lends his support to the causeThat's right - one of the most well-known beards in the business, DJ Dave Lee Travis (known as The Hairy Cornflake in his Radio 1 days!) comes out in support of the Peterborough beardy-boys!
Help playing audio/video Yep, this year we've come up with something that might result in more red faces than red noses, as our Peterborough breakfast show team is facing-off against the Radio Cambridgeshire sports team in a hair-raising battle of machismo. The Peterborough lads after 13 days With three weeks to go before the big day - Friday 13th March - our boys (and one brave lady-chap) performed their last ritual shave and have since been preparing their manly jaws (and a finely-turned pair of legs!) for a stubble-onslaught. Who can grow the longest, wildest, glossiest beard and raise the most money for charity before Red Nose Day? They're nearly hair...Take a look at the latest photos on this page to see how our beardy-boys have been progressing. Fairy and Osbo after 13 days of growth Meanwhile, Rai Devito from The Barber Pole in Stanground, is the lucky chap tasked with removing all of that facial hair live on air. You can listen to his expert beard-care advice as he talks to Paul Stainton:

The 大象传媒 is not responsible for the content of external websites Well, the gauntlet has been well and truly slapped across their chiseled jaws, so lets meet the contenders. Macho, macho men...The Peterborough Team: Steve 'I've Even Tried my Girlfriend's Epilator but Nothing Gets Rid of These Babies' Titman: Titters is a stranger to the joys of the razor blade so he may well be hiding behind a balaclava to keep the chill from his chin. Paul Stainton tries some dripping Paul 'I've been shaving before you were in nappies' Stainton: The powerhouse behind the Peterborough Breakfast Show is used to a pristine, shiny chin, so this is gonna come as a bit of a shock to him! Ben 'Is It OK if I Glue Some of my Luscious Head Hair onto my Chin?' Stevenson: The baby of the team, young Ben's up against some stiff and stubbly competition. Hairy Kerry Kerry 'I wish I'd Never Thought of This' Devine: This was HER big idea, so it's only fair that this lady-chap joins in by refusing to shave her legs for a few weeks. She'll be plaiting that leg hair and throwing it over her shoulders in a week, poor love. The Sporting Challengers:Alex 'The Hairy Hermit' Harris: The voice of Monday Night Sport's got an impressive growth record and we reckon he'll look like a Russian submarine commander by the end of this challenge. Possibly the only contender to face-up to Steve Titman. The Sporting Challengers Peter 'Surprisingly Hairy for a Small Chap' Swan: Young Swanny's stubble defies his youth. Rumour has it he was the fourth member of ZZ Top. Chris 'Can I Borrow Your Tweezers - I Appear to have Sprouted a Facial Hair' Osborne: Poor chap's a natural blonde and sings Soprano, so the smart money's going elsewhere... Nick 'I'm No Fairy But I'm Not That Hairy' Fairbairn: The epitomy of sporty manliness, big Nick's jaw is surprisingly lady-like... make of that what you will!
