Across the 大象传媒 we will be celebrating Black History Month throughout October. On CBeebies we will be talking about our black history heroes and our presenters will be sharing some of their family history with you. Below we have put together a list of articles and videos from across the 大象传媒 to help parents discuss Black History Month with their little ones.
大象传媒 Teach: True Stories
These short video dramatisations introduce the stories of ten children who grew up and changed the world. These short films are taken from the original 大象传媒 series, True Stories.
Rosa Parks听

Rosa Parks tells the story of her life, showing how her refusal to give up her seat to a white person on a segregated bus changed the rules of American society, and led towards equality and justice for everyone, whatever the colour of their skin.
Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman tells the story of her life and how she escaped slavery. Told in the first person, and brought to life with a mix of drama, movement, music and animation, the story begins when Harriet was a child.

Why is black British history so important?听

Campaign groups and charities like The Black Curriculum and Fill in the Blanks have also spoken out on the importance of black history being taught in schools. These campaigners believe all children and young people need to learn about the important roles black people have played throughout British history and the many contributions they have made to society today.
