Recipe: Crispy Tools
Here is the recipe for making Big Cook Little Cook's Crispy Tools.
- 50g butter
- 180g chopped marshmallows
- 150g crispy rice cereal
- A bottle of chocolate sauce for decoration
- Weighing scales
- Mixing bowl
- Large saucepan
- Greaseproof paper
- Chopping board
- Tablespoon
- Wooden spoon
Method
Common allergens - Dairy (butter)
Will make 3 large tools, or 6 small ones.
In a large saucepan, start by melting the butter on a low heat. This is a hob job, so ask your grown-up helper to do this, as the hob is hot hot hot!
Once the butter has melted add the chopped marshmallows and stir. Keep heating until they have melted and blended together with the butter, then add in all the crispy rice cereal. Stir until all the grains are completely coated in the marshmallow.
Now we can make our tools. On a sheet of greaseproof paper, spoon out three blobs of mix.
With very clean hands, mould them into any tool shape you want, like a spanner, hammer and pliers. This will be very sticky! You can use a tablespoon or blunt knife to help get the right shape.
Once the tool shapes have been moulded, we can use the chocolate sauce to decorate them. Use the sauce to draw an outline around each tool, you could even add some more details like zig-zag lines for the pliers.
