Lifeline Appeal 24 April 2020

A significant number of adults with a physical disability would benefit from a canine partner assistance dog. Although we鈥檝e been creating life-transforming partnerships for 30 years, there is still so much more we could do. The money raised through our 大象传媒 Lifeline Appeal will help us to continue supporting our established partnerships as well as continue to change people鈥檚 lives.

We’ve been building partnerships for 30 years and with the astounding support we received during our 大象传媒 Lifeline Appeal, we will be able to continue offering support to over 450 partnerships across the UK during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

Like Jamie and Jackie, who you met during our appeal, Dominique was also partnered with an amazing assistance dog, Misty, who has been supporting her physically and emotionally since June 2019. Dominique, who has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Catamenial Dystonia, is currently adapting to life during the Covid-19 pandemic. The £94,460 raised from our 大象传媒 Lifeline Appeal will enable us to continue providing specialist aftercare support to partnerships like Dominique and Misty during this difficult time, when fundraising income has been severely impacted.

“Misty has wholeheartedly given me a momentous chunk of my independence back. Overall, thanks to my partnership with Misty: my chronic pain is more manageable, my fatigue levels have lessened, and my anxiety and fear have begun to subside. Furthermore, although a vast amount of my symptomatology related to my disability and illness still remain and will not disappear – having Misty by my side in those horrible times makes fighting through the hard times that little bit easier. I feel so incredibly lucky for having Canine Partners in my life. They not only gave me the most devoted and sweet-natured assistance dog, but they’ve also continued to give me support, encouragement and life-skills related to overcoming hurdles related to disabled living.”

Together we can open doors and place more canine partners with people living with disabilities in the UK. We can help transform the lives of more people like those featured in our appeal.
