The grief, it鈥檚 so all consuming and so horrendous in those first few months, it鈥檚 hard to know how you鈥檙e going to carry on. The helpline answered those questions that you don鈥檛 know the answer to.
The Lullaby Trust was thrilled to be selected as a 大象传媒 Lifeline Appeal beneficiary charity during our 50th Anniversary year. The charity is dedicated to protecting babies and their families from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Often known as cot death, SIDS is the unexpected death of a seemingly healthy baby which cannot be explained. It is one of the most devastating experiences any family will ever face.
The Lullaby Trust provides emotional and practical support to families after a bereavement. Thanks to our 大象传媒 Appeal, broadcast in June 2021 and fronted by Kym Marsh, we raised £30,449 to support our bereavement services, ensuring we can be there for families when they need us most.
By supporting The Lullaby Trust’s appeal, viewers have had a direct impact on the lives of individuals and families. The Lullaby Trust supports families irrespective of how long ago their bereavement was and our Bereavement Support Helpline gives family members the opportunity to speak freely, for as long as they need, with a sympathetic and understanding listener. This can be a lifeline to parents like Nicola:
"How do you plan a baby’s funeral? What does your baby look like? I’d never seen a dead body. The person on the other end of the telephone was amazing and I’m very grateful for that support.’’
As well as giving direct support we are able to connect families through our Befriender Scheme. Our Team of Befrienders are bereaved parents, grandparents and adult family members who offer support to others with similar personal circumstances. This can be a great support to parents like Fabian:
"Nobody could understand exactly how you felt. After the first phone call somebody actually said ‘I understand where your coming from, I felt the exact same way as you did and this is how we’re going to get through it.’ Even now if I start to struggle all I have to do is phone them up and say ‘Can you get Rob for me please to talk to?’ ’’
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone that tuned in and donated to the appeal, as well as our match funder The Sandhu Charitable Foundation who matched every pound raised, making double the difference.
