Emmaus offers a home for as long as people need it. This includes giving previously homeless men and women tailored support, meaningful work in a social enterprise and the opportunity to gain qualifications and learn new skills”
Our 大象传媒 Radio 4 Appeal raised an amazing £24,539 towards our training fund. This means many more Emmaus residents who have experienced homelessness will be able to receive relevant training of their choice, getting them closer to moving on from homelessness for good. Lawrence, who’s story featured in our appeal, has gained qualifications in warehousing and electronics during his time with Emmaus. He is now feeling positive about the future and looking to move on into employment.
Since our 大象传媒 Radio 4 Appeal was aired Emmaus has funded a further £10,283 worth of training for Emmaus residents with more in the pipeline. This includes educational courses, workplace qualifications and skills designed to regain the self-esteem, which is often lost when someone becomes homeless, as well as preparing Emmaus residents to move on and rebuild their lives.
During the current crisis, the importance of training and upskilling has become even more important at Emmaus as we adapt to a difficult situation and a new way of working and living in our communities around the UK.
