World Child Cancer provided us with the necessary drug and diagnostic support as well as accommodation and transport whenever we came to the hospital for treatment. A doctor encouraged me that my child would be well again. Things are better, Cynthia goes to the hospital for only yearly reviews now. Without the support I received, I would not be able to provide her with the necessary treatment.鈥
World Child Cancer is an international children’s charity dedicated to addressing the global inequality in childhood cancer care, aiming to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and care of children with cancer in low- and middle-income countries.
We are incredibly grateful to all the amazing 大象传媒 Radio 4 listeners who listened, shared, and donated to the appeal. Thanks to the extraordinary response of Radio 4 listeners, and a generous match funder, we are thrilled to announce that our Appeal raised a grand total of £28,101.
On Sunday 4th June, World Child Cancer patron and actor Caitríona Balfe shared the story of Cynthia from Ghana, one of the children that World Child Cancer has supported. Cynthia was only 6 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Her family couldn’t afford the costs for her treatment and were told she would not survive. She lived 5 hours from the hospital so transport and accommodation were expensive. World Child Cancer has been working with hospitals such as Korle-Bu in Ghana to provide cancer treatment and care to children, as well as support to their families. Thanks to supporters like you, Cynthia is in remission and back in school. She goes for regular check-ups at the hospital.
With your support, the money raised will help many more children in low- and middle-income countries who desperately need diagnosis and treatment- meaning that more children like Cynthia can be helped.
