Ian takes his inspiration from a modern, urban street scene, featuring the front gardens of four contemporary terraced houses. Each individually designed plot reflects the differing needs and tastes of its respective owners: a young couple with no children, a newly retired husband and wife, a car-owning family and a couple of 'grow your own' enthusiasts.
In essence, the four gardens in The Marshalls Living Street showcase what can be achieved in even the most modest space and the design as a whole embraces the theme of 'greening up' our towns and cities, encouraging people to respect and value the ownership of a garden.
We all think the gardens are great especially the vegetables. We would all love front gardens like these.
Not keen on this - it reminds me of parking spaces at the supermarket.
Whilst not a practical garden design for a single garden it's a fabulous concept and sends just the right message to those of us living in urban spaces. Why didn't it get a gold?
I like this garden as its shows what can be achieved in a modern terraced street. All four gardens are very different to suit every one's taste. I think it it my favourite show garden at this year's Chelsea.
Like the idea about the living walls. Would like to see some details how to make. Great use of space and a good way of introducing some privacy to your garden without the cost of walls and fences.
A thoughtful and brave stand for the suburbanites who only have a pocket handkerchief of garden, small budget and limited time to garden.
Viva la front garden!

We really liked this garden - our favourite show garden - in fact the only one we really identified with. A really good concept as front gardens don't get the attention that back gardens do.
