SAC Strutt and Parker Sustainable Highland Garden
Designed by Amber Goudy
This is a croft garden for the 21st century. Amber has adapted an ancient Scottish way of life and suggested a more contemporary way of doing it. With nods to the current cause celebres of sustainability and renewable energy, the garden harnesses the power of nature without impacting heavily upon it.
The croft itself is built from straw bales and is surrounded by a planting of Scottish native wildflowers and organic vegetables, demonstrating the sustainable lifestyle of the owners.
This garden is a haven for wildlife: the water rill and inbuilt insect homes provide ideal conditions for birds and insects, including the bees from the croft’s hive.
This garden has been awarded a Silver Flora medal by the RHS.
