Pottering in North Cumbria
Designed by Rae McNab, Val Donnelly, Margaret Archibald, Coralin Pearson and Vera Turnbull
"The world of the traditional North Cumbrian craft potter is celebrated in a sinuous path of recycled kiln bricks, edged with free flowing and informal planting that brushes against the legs.
A palette of lush spring foliage softens the lean-to pottery while the potter's wheel, clay and drying pots are offset by random bursts of self-sown ferns and splashes of colour.
The potter rests upon a willowed seat, boot against a granite boulder, its colours reflecting a myriad of glazes. The results of the potter's labours lie around, stimulating quiet contemplation of the infinite compliment of their past and future."
