"The biblical story of Jacob's dream, in which he lays his head upon a stone and dreams of a ladder reaching up to heaven, is the inspiration behind this garden. Through gardening many people find their own piece of heaven, their own Jacob's Ladder.

The ladder in our garden is made of stone and can be seen on the old stock wall, flanked by overhanging Betula albosinensis 'Fascination' and clay spouts flowing into a central rill (small brook), symbolising the idea that when emotions are in equilibrium we reach a state of harmony.

An all-white planting scheme of classic aquilegias, alliums, geraniums and white roses represents rows of nature spirits lining the journey to heaven and conveys purity and innocence, while the sturdy box cubes signify human mind, body and spirit, providing weight and balance to the whole."
