Generation Gardens - Learning to Grow
Designed by Mary Payne and Jon Wheatley
With very limited space and resources the students of Ranelagh School have used recycled pallets to make containers; these have been painted and planted with flowers and vegetables. The walls are display vertical plantings and the students have incorporated animal habitats and their own artworks into the design. This garden will be judged as a Floral Medal Exhibit.
"Ranelagh School is a secondary school in Bracknell. It was founded 300 years ago by the Earl of Ranelagh, who was also responsible for overseeing the building of Chelsea Hospital and Ranelagh House and Gardens.
From the day when '20 poor boys' and '20 poor girls' first crossed the threshold, the school has grown to 918 students, and this Chelsea garden is a major part of their tercentenary celebrations."
