This week saw a big game at the top of the Premiership, with league leaders 榜首 Manchester United losing 2-1 to Arsenal.
Arsenal were 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go, but an equaliser 扳平球 from Robin Van Persie and a last-gasp 最后一刻 winner from captain Thierry Henry gave them victory.
Despite losing, Man Utd are still 6 points ahead of Chelsea in the Premiership, and their manager Alex Ferguson remained positive 保持乐观. He said:
To "drop points" 丢分 means to lose points, and the "run-in" (接近)尾声 means the period leading up to the end of a season. Ferguson said he expected the team to show how good they were, to "show their worth" 体现他们的能力.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was very pleased with his team’s performance 表现, but said that Man Utd were still a good team:
A "challenger" 挑战者 is a team who are trying to win a competition, and when he says "title" 冠军, Wenger means the title of being Premiership champions.
Wenger thought Man Utd would be disappointed with the result, but wouldn’t "crumble" 崩溃. This means they wouldn’t become weaker or fall apart.
