Questions about the Coast TV programme
Questions about the 大象传媒 Coastal Walks
Questions about the Coast TV programme answered
Are you going all the way around again?
As Coast continues each programme will visit a stretch of coastline to get
a sense of its character and stories to help build a picture of our unique coastline.
We'll be returning to some of our favourite stretches of coast, as well as visiting
some new locations such as the Isle of Man and the stunning south west coast
of Ireland.
Why are the programmes not following the route in geographical
order as you move around the coast?
We wanted to build up an evolving, encyclopaedic picture of the British Isles
coastline, moving around England, Scotland, Wales and the whole of Ireland.
So this time we are not just going around again, we are revisiting some familiar
shores as well as whole new territories, discovering the secrets, the scenery
and the stories that make our islands unique.
Who composed the Coast theme music and is it commercially
available?
The Coast music was specially composed by Alan Parker and is performed by the
大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra, it is not commercially available at present.
Where can I find more information about what music was used
in each programme?
You can find more details about the music used in a programme by going to the
information page for that programme.
Is there a DVD of the new series available?
A three disc DVD box set of the new series will be available from the 16th
July. The series DVDs are released by the Open University and the first and
second series of Coast are available on DVD as well.
Is there a book of the new series available?
The new book that follows the series is called 聭Coast: The Journey Continues聮
and covers both this series and the last series of Coast. There is also a book
of beautiful aerial pictures of our coastline called 'Coast: From the Air' which
will be available in all good bookshops from March 2008.
Are there any other extras available with this series?
Yes there is a Coast information pack that you can get either by calling 0870
900 7788 or click on the Open University web link to their site at Open2.net
on the Coast homepage.

Questions about the 大象传媒 Coastal Walks answered
Can you still do the walks relating to the first series?
You can still do these walks and you can find information on these here. For twelve of these walks, you can also download special audio guides to your MP3 player.
How long are the walks?
The walks are between 2 and 3 miles long, and are fairly easy walking.
Are the walks suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs?
Most of the walks are accessible for wheelchairs users and pushchairs. You
should check the individual 'Where I Live' site for specific details of a particular
walk. You can find the link to this site on the Coast homepage on our website.
Why isn't there a walk near me?
We have created one walk for each of our coastal Where I Live sites. You can
see the area covered by each of these sites on the map here. While this means that most people should have
a walk fairly close to them, we have not been able to locate a walk in every
county or district. It's unfortunately the case, therefore, that some people
will have further to travel than others.
