Development priorities for 2024/25

For 7-12, our content is all about inspiring, exciting and engaging a young audience with relatable stories from all over the world. We are interested in content with multi-generational appeal, with characters and stories that feel distinctive and fresh. 

Animation

• Laugh out loud, fast-paced comedy for 6-9s
• Content with international appeal, but with a British twist
• Premises with a rich seam of stories, with lots of comedy and jeopardy
• Content serving the 10-12 audience with a story arc and complex character journey – potentially comic book or anime-inspired

Factual and entertainment

• Unique stories that celebrate British diversity and bring people together
• Compelling new voices, potentially around external talent with a following elsewhere
• Ambitious, inspiring ideas around sustainability and the climate crisis
• Noisy, funny and visually bold entertainment ideas with a clear premise
• New and unexpected ideas that reach our audience in different ways
• Access documentaries – particularly those with new, inclusive and cultural themes possibly centred around religious festivals and cultural events
• My Life factual strand: we’re looking for surprising stories told from the child’s POV from anywhere in the world
• We are currently well served for science and engineering, cookery, natural history, art and sport

Drama and comedy

• Relatable characters and stories that our UK audience can identify with and want to know more about
• Book adaptations
• Content with international appeal
• We would be interested to see more boy-led proposals, but please don’t rule out the girls!
