大象传媒 News website, Will K-pop's AI experiment pay off? 11 July 2024

Summary of complaint

We have received complaints from readers who were unhappy with an article about the use of AI in K-pop.

Our response

Our article Will K-pop's AI experiment pay off? sought to explore the use of AI in K-pop and the pros and cons of this.

Readers felt that the article incorrectly gave the impression that the band Seventeen used AI to make music and in their video for hit single, Maestro.

The article stated that Maestro 鈥might well include AI-generated lyrics鈥. This line has since been removed and the article updated in light of comments from group member, Woozi:

鈥淲oozi has since said on Instagram that all of Seventeen's music is 鈥榳ritten and composed by human creators鈥欌.

We have also added an update note at the bottom of the article to reflect this change.

Separately, there was concern regarding the 大象传媒 Korea version of the article which included a mistranslation and stated that some of Seventeen鈥檚 lyrics were 鈥渨ritten with the help of AI technology鈥. This line has since been removed from the 大象传媒 Korea article and we would like to offer our apologies for this error.

With regards to the music video, it is the 大象传媒鈥檚 understanding that AI was used in the introduction of the video.
