Nicky Campbell, ´óÏó´«Ã½ News, April 2023

Summary of complaint

We have received complaints from people unhappy that Nicky Campbell's programme is simulcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ News.

Our response

Last year it was announced that from April 2023, changes would be made to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ News Channel to create a single news operation for the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s UK and global audiences.

This is because we need to modernise the way we deliver the news – while addressing the financial challenges we face.

Our new channel is a single operation with two different feeds, so viewers in the UK and internationally sometimes see the same content, sometimes different.

We are totally committed to providing British viewers with UK-specific news and discussion and, as part of this, we are pioneering a new televised version of the Nicky Campbell Show.

Since its launch on Monday 17 April, the programme has seen very high levels of audience engagement, with many viewers contacting the programme by phone and text to share their views. Alongside the phone-in and discussion element, Nicky’s programme also features significant breaking news, live events, and news and sport headlines so our audience remains up to date.

We are introducing a range of new programmes and formats on this channel, which we are rolling out over a period of months, that we hope will keep our audience turning to ´óÏó´«Ã½ News. Â
