Complaint
A viewer complained a report on the rail strikes unfairly placed the blame on the union ASLEF and was biased in its tone, choice of soundbite and use of language. 聽The ECU considered whether the report met the standards of impartiality set out in the Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The report, which ran to just over a minute and a half, set out details of the latest planned industrial action by ASLEF. 聽The union鈥檚 position was fairly represented with an extract from an interview with its Secretary-General Mick Whelan. Neither the tone nor the use of language seemed to the ECU out of keeping with that adopted for other stories in the bulletin.听听听
