Complaint
This edition of 鈥淲ales Investigates鈥澛 looked into claims of sexism, bullying and sexual harassment at the Welsh Rugby Union.聽 A viewer questioned the testimony of one of the contributors who described their experiences of working for the WRU and criticised the organisation for failing to address complaints about sexist behaviour and harassment. The ECU considered whether the report met the required 大象传媒 standards of accuracy.
Outcome
The account given by the contributor of the behaviour to which they were subjected, certain incidents which occurred and the response of their managers to their complaints was appropriately checked and corroborated by the programme team.聽 The matters raised 聽by the complainant did not appear to undermine or conflict with their account, which was supported by other ex-members of WRU staff. The ECU noted that the WRU subsequently issued a 聽statement condemning this kind of behaviour and undertaking to review its structures and procedures. As its new Chief Executive said he was shocked and appalled by the allegations, it appears that the WRU accepted that the complaints aired in the programme were well-founded.
