Complaint
The programme set out to examine the extent to which the current generation of antidepressant drugs had lived up to their initial promise.聽 A viewer complained it was generally misleading, and unbalanced in its focus on unwelcome side-effects.聽 The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 大象传媒鈥檚 editorial standards of accuracy and impartiality.
Outcome
As the complainant did not specify any particular inaccuracies, the ECU found no grounds for upholding that aspect of the complaint.聽 In relation to impartiality, it found that the attention the programme devoted to unwelcome side-effects was proportionate to the editorial intention of assessing performance against initial promise, and that enough attention was devoted to the positive effects of the drugs in question to ensure an appropriate range of views was represented.
