Complaint
The programme included a routine by the comedienne Lucy Porter in which she discussed the decline in Christian belief in the UK.聽 A listener complained that this represented bias against Christianity as compared with other religions. 聽The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the 大象传媒鈥檚 editorial standards of impartiality.
Outcome
The premise for the routine was provided by the new census figures, which showed a steep decline in the profession of Christian belief over the preceding decade.聽 In view of this and the historical predominance of Christianity over other religions in the UK, the ECU saw no reason to infer bias from Ms Porter鈥檚 choice of Christianity, rather than another religion, as her topic.
