Complaint
The programme included an interview with two Palestinian doctors in Gaza.  A listener complained there was insufficient questioning about Hamas’ lack of protection for civilians.  The ECU looked at whether the programme met the ´óÏó´«Ã½ standards on impartiality and accuracy.
Outcome
Journalists and presenters have a responsibility to choose those questions they feel are most appropriate and to cast the sharpest light on the situation under discussion.  In this case, this was largely about the direct experiences of medical professionals and the nature of the injuries they were treating.  Reference was made, however, to Israel’s objectives and their view of Hamas’s tactics.  In the ECU’s view this was sufficient to ensure due impartiality was maintained.Â
