Alex Parks

Alex's embarrassing TV moment

After only two days in the house, all the Fame Academy students had to sing for survival.

Alex Parks had extra complications on the night - but did she survive?

This Saturday, when most of us were out enjoying ourselves or relaxing at home, the thirteen Fame Academy students were trying to control their nerves as they prepared to sing for survival.

After being in the house for only two days, all students were on probation and had to sing live to persuade the nation that they still deserved to be in the Academy.

As soon as the last three housemates were Announced on Wednesday evening, they were all rushed off the the house where they would spend the next few weeks of their lives following strict timetables and training regimes.

It shouldn't really go against me because it wasn't my fault, but you know.
Nervous Alex Parks

On Thursday morning they were rudely awoken at 7.30am and sent down to the dance studio with fitness instructor Kevin Adams. Kevin expects 100% from everyone and said in no uncertain terms that they were all going to have to do a hell of a lot better if they wanted to be famous.

Much of the next two days were based around singing coaching for the live performance on Saturday evening. Alex sang another very emotional song - 'I Don't Want To Talk About It'.

"It's about two people who've had a huge argument, stormed out and then suddenly realised that they are in love with each other and I think a lot of people have been in that situation" Alex calmly told presenter Kat Deeley.

Alex had done a good job holding her nerves together, but moments into her song, she knew things were going wrong when her microphone didn't work.

An embarrassed looking Patrick Keilty had to run on stage and stop the performance while a sweaty runner jumped on set to swap the mics!

As a true professional, she carried on and sang the song with, confidence and much emotion. The judges, audience and public loved her effort and singing coach David Grant said: "She's got star potential, she's got star talent, but what she's got that she can't teach is passion."

Carrie Grant was equally as complimentary but said she would like to see her sing something a little more happy next time. As it came to the headmaster's time to comment, Alex braced herself for the worse, but got a very unexpected thumbs up from Richard Park. This was the first time he hadn't said anything all night, but the silence said it all!

Modest Alex, still wasn't quite convinced that she'd done well enough to sway the public. "I don't know. It shouldn't really go against me, but you know" she said. But the look of relief that spread over her face when her name was read out to stay, was a picture.
