Well-ah bless my soul, for any Elvis fan the August Bank Holiday Monday was probably their idea of heaven.

Elvis meets Elvis!

The Ship Inn at Par staged a massive Elvis day in aid of the Precious Lives Appeal.

The highlight of the day was more than 100 Elvis fans of all ages, singing the classic Viva Las Vegas together.听

The event was organised by Pauline Giles and Sue Heywood from the Ship Inn, who wanted to raise funds for the Precious Lives Appeal, as well as staging something slightly different for the August Bank Holiday 2008.

Cornwall's Johnny Cowling

There were performances from several Elvis tribute acts, including Johnny Cowling, Remember Elvis, Dave James, Tory from Play it Cool and 大象传媒 Cornwall's Matt Shepherd.

At 3pm over 100 fans, dressed as Elvis, took to the stage to perform the classic movie song 'Viva Las Vegas'. There were countless jumpsuits, gold jackets, and sunglasses as Par paid tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.

Unfortunately the final number of 110 was just short of the world record. But the day was a huge success for charity. Early indications from the organisers are that the afternoon raised 拢1200 for the Precious Lives Appeal.

All those taking part in the record attempt had to pay a donation for the charity. People could also have a go at the Elvis trivia sheet, and take part in a Presley auction and raffle.
