Surfing and Chilling

Our blogger Tassy Swallow is settling into life in Hawaii. The Cornish waves Tassy has been used to, are completely different from the ones she is experiencing in Hawaii. Tassy sends her fifth blog to 大象传媒 Cornwall.

Monday 26 October 2008

We've been here for five days already, no ones had a great surf yet, but it does take a good week to get into it i reckon. The waves are well different in Hawaii compared to back home, In fact there pretty much the opposite!听

On the bright side no one is forshizzled yet even though not much sun cream has been applied. We have been to the cinema already, watched 'Saw 5', even though no one was keen apart from George.

Broken board after 'Leftovers'

Surfer of the Day Votes started two days ago hitting off with George taking Day 1 of the votes, with a sick surf at sharky Leftovers and Beth on yesterday getting into it at Velzy Land.

We surfed Pupukea this morning for an hour or two. That was good fun and we did some beneficial coaching in the fun but tricky 3-4ft waves.

This afternoon we just chilled out in Haleiwa, bought some postcards and had a good smoothie before being picked up and going back to the crib and having naps, a clean up and food. Bangers and mash for dinnner!

Wednesday 28 October 2008

We've just had such a sick day, First off we surfed Haleiwa. It was pretty scary because it looked like 2ft then we paddled out and it was about a solid 5ft.

Pretty gutted really, seeing as I only had a 6.1 after my Leftovers incident so I just spent about an hour dodging听the meaty sets over the shallow ledge that they call 'the toilet bowl', (if it sucks you down, you're not coming back up again! Nice.)

Waikiki

Halloween in Waikiki

After we got out from Haleiwa we headed home for a bit of ham, cheese and avacado wraps (with sweet chili sauce obviously) Then we headed to Laniakea for a good long sesh with Martin videoing.

Then just to top this great day off Beth and I cycled over to Foodland on the new old bikes we bought from a garage sale yesterday for $20...Bargain! And bought some good old vitamin water and chocolate milk. Awesome.

I'm still not sure what we are going to do for Halloween. Basically at the moment we are torn between Crayons, Smurfs and Superheroes. I think we need to make a trip to good old Cosco for some bargain costumes and hit up the streets of Waikiki big.
