France never used to be as close as it is in the photo. Many years ago, there was a huge storm, and the village of Mousehole was in danger of being lost to the savage fury of the sea.
Thanks to a very special cat, the village was saved. In the process of saving the village from the storm this very special cat, whose owner was called Tom and had something or other to do with fish and made pies - or something like that, had to zip up the channel. This meant dragging France from where it was to the position it is now.
That's how France is so close.

My wife and I have visited Mousehole every year since 1991 . . words can't express our feeling for the area. Dinner at the Cornish Range . . wondeful food. We were saddened when the Lobster Pot was done away. English tea on the overlooking veranda . . can not duplicate. Travel days are over, I'm 80 and a little tired . . but have many memories of Mousehole

I grew up in Penzance, and never really visited Mousehole, in seven years I only visited the Mount once. We moved back to run a Pub in PZ for a few years, and still never really toured the area. Now we only get to visit once a year - you don't know what you have, until it's gone. Love and miss Cornwall (Mothers maiden name Tresise, aparently decended from Wreckers and Pirates??)

I grew up in newlyn and lived in mousehole for a short time to!(How lucky was i!!!).Now i take my wife and son thre every summer, and they love it !!!. Sennen is a very special place to. Hope to move back to mounts bay some day. Hi to all my friends and family down there!!. CORNWALL FOREVER!!

Something happened to me last weekend. Istayed in Newlyn and when I walked to Mousehole the following morning after I got ther with my husband, I fell in love. Am going back in April...it can't come soon enough. Since coming home I have read the mousehole cat story too. It is such a wonderful well written tale. I miss it so much there and I have only been home four days!

I fell in love with Cornwall on a visit there last October. As my cousin in London said, "Cornwall took my breath away", as I was stricken with a heart problem while at Pendennis Castle and after an ambulance ride with two very kind attendants, spent eight days of my eighteen day visit in the hospital in Truro. I was so well taken care of there I was sad to leave my new friends and think of them often. I was fortunate to see much of Cornwall in the short time I was there and hope that one day I will return again. We spent one night in Boscastle and walked along the harbour there. My heart goes out to the townspeople there who are suffering from the torrential rains and flooding.

I have some really fond memories of Mousehole. We used to holiday there every year when I was young and I fell in love with Cornwall because of that. I moved there to work for three years, but chose to move back. Well, we all make mistakes!!!! I still try and get back whenever I can. I love Kernow!!

I met my cousins future husband in Polzeath where she lived he was Mousole born and bred,he asked me to be best man at his wedding in Penzance with the reception at the Coastgaurd Inn,since then i have now got a very good friend and cant wait to get down to see them when ever we can.

I have relatives who live in Truro so when I visited them in 1997 I fell in love with Mousehole. I can't remember how many photos I took there but it was one of the many beautiful places in Cornwall that reminded me of our coastline in Australia.

I have just come back from spending a week in Mousehole with friends, Heane and Steven. We stayed on the seafront, and I have to say I enjoyed it more than going on a med. holiday. I would love to go back and visit there again someday 'with the same friends'

In the fifties my grandfather owned the house "Cairn Dhu" above the Mousehole, and I spent my hols in the area. My most vivid memory is the Newlyn lifeboat going by in a ferocious gale, heading around towards Lamorna, where a liberty boat was breaking up on the rocks. We drove along to watch the rescue.
Grandfather used to drive down the hill into Mousehole to go to the pub, and on the way back would set the choke to rich so that the backfires would wake up the village! Fond memories.
I adore Mousehole.

Mousehole is one of the most beautiful spots in Cornwall, and has some of the friendliest people. They have a long and interesting history. Look for the musket shot and cannon balls on display at an historic pub...they were left over from a raid by some Spanish pirates. They also have a fantastic legend about a very special cat who saved the village from a terrible storm.
