Hundreds of thousands of photos have been brought together, and will finally form a massive mosaic of an image. The project to put together the world鈥檚 largest photo mosaic came to 大象传媒 Coventry and Warwickshire on Wednesday 8 August. Coventry and Warwickshire has now done its part to contribute to the final piece, which will be unveiled outside Birmingham鈥檚 Millennium Point on Saturday 23 August. The project aims to put together hundreds of thousands of photos taken and sent in by the public across the West Midlands to produce a huge, record-breaking photo mosaic, which will equal the size of three tennis courts. The final mosaic will create the image of one of the final eight shortlisted photos, but the special picture will be kept under tight wraps until the grand unveiling. The eight photos have been selected for their unique boldness, fascinating stories, and their suitability to be reproduced into the huge scale work of art. While it was difficult to choose eight out of thousands of photos, as project manager Kerry Endsor said, it had to be done. The best and most encouraging thing about The Big Picture, though, is that every single image received will be used, so everybody who contributed will be part of the record-breaking attempt. Working TogetherEach part of the West Midlands will work to put together their local mosaic, which will then be added to the final piece in Birmingham. Each area will at some point hold a workshop where everybody is invited to help put all the photos chosen onto a board to shape the mosaic. Today the workshop is being help in 大象传媒 Coventry and Warwickshire鈥檚 Open Centre, where hundreds of photos have been made into self-adhesive stickers to facilitate the project. The aim is to stick them all, in the right order, onto a large panel to form Coventry and Warwickshire鈥檚 mosaic. While not too many people were able to turn up due to their busy schedules, there were some very enthusiastic participants indeed. Two little, 4 year-old girls in summery dresses turned up to help, and, excitedly, they did quite a lot of work, which in turn tired them out quite quickly. Eventually, after a long day, the mosaic came together and on Saturday, 23 August, it will do Coventry and Warwickshire proud, when it is added to the final piece of the West Midlands photo mosaic. The Big Picture mosaic will be revealed at Thinktank, Birmingham on Saturday, 23 August.last updated: 06/08/2008 at 16:17 SEE ALSOYou are in: Coventry and Warwickshire > Blast > In The Big Picture |
