The Bad Shepherds are a folk band with a difference. They don’t play traditional folk classics – but new arrangements of punk classics from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The group also features Maartin Allcock, a former member of Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull, and Troy Donockley who has worked with the likes of Maddy Prior and Midge Ure. Over the years, Adrian has been part of other musical ventures - including the famous heavy metal band Bad News from The Comic Strip Presents series. It was originally a comedic look at heavy metal bands and the trials of being part of a group on the road - but Bad News even went on to play at the Donnington Festival and also released an album. Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah BandIn recent years, Adrian has also toured with the re-formed Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Talking about his time with the band, he said: "It was a great honour to be asked to join the Bonzos and the tour went very well indeed. It certainly helped to give me the resolve needed to carry on and found The Bad Shepherds." Now, Adrian is continuing his musical dream and it combines his love of folk music and punk and new wave music from his youth. With songs such as Teenage Kicks, Up the Junction, and I Fought The Law getting the Bad Shepherds treatment, their shows sound like a must to see and hear! Talking about the tour, which comes to Warwickshire in December, Adrian said: "I hope that people will understand that everything I do can’t always be funny and this certainly is not an attempt to make fun of the music - quite the reverse actually." Adrian chats with AnnieOn Friday, 5 September, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Coventry & Warwickshire's Annie Othen caught up with Adrian on her mid-morning programme. They talked about their mutual love of folk music and festivals, The Bad Shepherds, and of course, had a laugh along the way. You can listen again to Annie's interview by clicking on the link below:
