 |  | The artsnet website was launched in style with cocktails at the Ikon gallery in Birmingham.
Artsnet is a new website which provides an online community, services and information for artists in the West Midlands.
For almost two years, marketing:arts have been developing the website at Coventry University's Technocentre in the Technology Park at Puma Way, Coventry.
The project is the first of its kind in the region and it aims is to brings artists together to share information about arts in the West Midlands.
The main features of artsnet:
1. You can surf artsnet to find a job, for the latest news, events listings, training opportunities, and a 'how to' section on marketing yourself in the arts.
2. You can personalise artsnet content, subscribe to the newsletters for your chosen art form or job and join the discussion group.
3. You can add event listings, news, press releases and job adverts to the artsnet database.

What opportunities does 'artsnet' offer for artists who live or work in Coventry and Warwickshire?
"Artists living and working in Coventry and Warwickshire can use artsnet to get the latest news and to publicise their skills and artworks.
"Besides having all the latest funding and opportunity news, artsnet also allows individual artists to upload images and press releases about their work.
"They can reach a bigger online audience for no cost, and they can become members of the wider regional arts community - getting support and help from fellow artists."
How does it differ from other arts websites in the region?
"Artsnet doesn't just publish information it also allows site visitors to change what information they get from the site.
"If a visitor is particularly interested in the theatre they can alter the site to show all the theatre news first. This stops them having to trawl through lots of information they aren't interested in.
"Also the latest theatre news will be delivered to them via email once a week. The same goes if they are interested in galleries or literature or
new media, etc."
Why is artsnet important to the arts Coventry and Warwickshire?
"Artsnet is based in Coventry and naturally has strong links to local artists and organisations.
"We're keen for Coventry and Warwickshire arts workers to be involved with artsnet and to use its services."
