On 12 June the staff at Rugby's Early Years Education and Childcare Centre are holding a tea party to give childminders in the area a chance to meet each other and to build good working relationships with staff at the centre.

There will be afternoon tea and cakes available for the carers while children will be looked after and entertained with a variety of activities.

The Tea Party will be taking place on Wednesday 12 June, from 1pm to 3pm, at the childcare centre, based at Brownsover Community Infant School, Webb Drive, Rugby.

Constructive socialising
Childminders will also have the chance to chat to staff at the centre, which is one of five centres around Warwickshire which aim to help early years and childcare workers by supporting them with training, advice and resources including toys, videos and books.

A celebration of hard work
Liselle Appleby, of Warwickshire Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, said the main aim of the event was to celebrate the hard work of childminders:

"Childminders do a fantastic job which can be very demanding. This is a great opportunity for them to meet others doing the same work, and also for them to find out more about some of the support and advice which is available to them."

National Childcare Month
The tea party is one of several events taking place around the county for childcare month, a national initiative to raise the profile of childcare.

Other events, organised by Warwickshire's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, include an art competition asking youngsters to draw their carer.

The competition is open to all children who are looked after by childminders or by pre-school staff, as well as older children in before and after-school clubs.
