 |  | Stratford is about as far from the sea as you can get, but that doesn't stop the local sub aqua club getting wet!
The Stratford-Upon-Avon Sub Aqua Club is offering the chance for people to try the world of scuba diving for free in a number of open evenings they've held this month.
The club, a branch of the British Sub Aqua Club, meets each Thursday at Stratford Leisure Centre where it has exclusive use of the pool between 8pm - 9pm.
The last chance to join them for free to have a try-dive is tonight, Thursday, 30 January.
听Visitors over the age of 14 can get a taste of diving in warmth and safety as experienced instructors take them through the basics in a try-dive.
All the necessary equipment will be provided by the club.
Try dives usually cost 拢15 but this month the club is offering free taster sessions which it hopes will encourage more people to join-in.
They say they want more members in the club and they want others to experience the excitement of the underwater world.
听Club recruitment officer Miles Howarth said:
"Stratford upon Avon Sub Aqua Club is a friendly group of very active divers and we'd love to welcome more members.
"These open evenings will give people a chance to come along and meet us, hear about what we get up to and, if they want, try a dive in the pool accompanied by nationally qualified instructors.
"The club does its basic training in Stratford pool, so it's warm even in January. Once divers are suitably qualified they can join any of the many club dive trips organised throughout the year.
"The club has two boats and makes regular trips throughout the UK season, diving in places like Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, the Scilly Isles, the western isles of Scotland, the Farne Islands and off the Pembrokeshire coast of Wales.
"There's an overseas trip organised each year, often to the Red Sea, and members dive all over the world while holidaying in places like Australia, South Africa, Mexico, Cuba, the Maldives - learning to dive opens up a whole new tourist world!"
听As well as diving the club has an active social calendar with parties, quizzes, barbecues, dinners and sporting activities organised throughout the year.
