Three of the beers in production at Church End Brewery
If you're looking for unusual brews then The Church End Brewery is the place for you.

The brewery started as a four-barrel plant in 1994 and moved to its present ten-barrel plant near Atherstone in 2001.

It supplies between 50 and 100 outlets and produces over 30 different beers each year, including its renown fuit and special occasion beers. Mangoes and aphrodisiacs are amongst their more unusual ingredients!

Read about the brewery and its extraordinary brews by following the Church End Brewery link on the left.

The new Wizard Brewery is based in a barn at the rear of the historic Norman Knight pub in Whichford, which is near Shipston.

The brewery produces a range of ten beers, including the 5% Billy Whizz, made with pale, crystal and chocolate malts and challenger, green bullet and Goldings whole hops.

Wizard Ales are the newest in Warwickshire
So far, the pub itself is the only place you can find the beers on sale - there are usually two or three available at any one time.

However, the beers have been on sale at beer festivals around the country since the brewery opened in 2003 - and they have been well received too!

One of the many beer outlets in the area
Frankton Bagby, based at the The Old Stables in Green Lane, is Warwickshire's newest brewery. Since it started brewing in April 1999, it has supplied its beers to about 150 outlets. Its beers include Barnstormer, Old Chestnut, Squires Brew, Rugby Special and Old Retainer.

Its seasonal brews include the deliciously named Midsummer Madness and Christmas Pud.

Call the brewery on 02476 540770 for more information.

The North Cotswold Brewery produces two main beers, Genesis - to start the night I presume - and Four Shires.

These are supplied to about 40 outlets, including the Queen's Head at Iron Cross and the Black Horse at Shipston.

Brew capability was expanded from about two barrels to ten barrels in March 2000 and there are plans for a bottle-conditioned beer to be sold over the internet direct to the public soon. We internet workers can't wait!

Call the brewery on 01608 663947 for more information.

A pint of real ale
This six-barrel plant started up just before Christmas 1998, and expanded to 26 barrels in 2000.

Head brewer Phil Page moved to the beer company when the Warwickshire Brewery of Kenilworth closed earlier in the same year.

The brewery now supplies about 80 outlets directly and - in our book - win the prize for having the best locally named brews. Names such as the Lady Godiva, Falstaff, Kingmaker and the Golden Bear, keep us Coventry and Warwickshire drinkers smiling.

Follow the link on the left to their website for more information.
