Reggae musician Jimmy Cliff stars in this Jamaican film classic from 1970s Kingston. The score, put together by Cliff, Slickers and Desmond Dekker, is a string of hits which helped put reggae on the map.

 |  | On Friday 2 August we co-hosted a party with our neighbour site 大象传媒 Birmingham and with 大象传媒 WM.

We invited people from Birmingham and Coventry to join the party, including representatives from Coventry's West Indian Community Association.
We also had Aswad in a live webchat
joined by three ladies who run an organisation called Sister Tree in Birmingham.

They were asked questions about traditional Jamaican food and described their favourites, like a drink called sexy juice that they drink for Independence Day.
In Jamaica, Independence Day is as big a celebration as Christmas is in the UK. Many go to the National Heroes park as part of the celebrations.

People were able to join the party here on the website, with a web camera to see the event and our first-ever live web chat to talk to the guests.
The live web chat was with British reggae band Aswad.
Aswad brought Caribbean music to Britain, and they chatted to us live online to help us celebrate Jamaican Independence Day.
The band has released over 15 albums over the years and have worked with some of reggae's greatest names, including Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.
